Ryan Mitchell – Head Coach
2014 was the first season for Head Coach Ryan Mitchell with the Southlake Dragon Volleyball Program. The Varsity team completed the season with 43-4 record and advanced to teh Regional Semi-Finals. Before coaching at Southlake, Coach Mitchell was the head volleyball coach at Lovejoy High School where he led his team to five consecutive state championships. During his coaching career, Coach Mitchell has amassed a record of 358-59 games overall.
Mitchell was named Coach of the Year in 2012 by LonestarVolleyball.com and was named the same for TCGA and Texas Sportswriters in 2009, when he also coached the TCGA All Star Team. In 2008, Dallas Morning News named Mitchell Coach of the Year as well.
Coach Mitchell attended Dallas Baptist University where he played on the men’s volleyball team as a setter. Coach Mitchell recently earned his Master’s degree in 2015 in Education Leadership from Lamar University. He is actively involved in club volleyball where he serves as Coaching Director for Skyline Juniors Volleyball. Coach Mitchell has a wife (Kaitlin), two boys Reid (10), Eli (8) and a baby girl named Tatum. In his spare time, he loves hanging out with his family, watching movies and playing golf.
